The interior of a car should provide a healthy environment for the driver and passengers on board. A clean, sanitized, and fresh smelling interior provides a great driving experience. Achieving that requires following certain cleaning techniques and some effort, but rest assured you are going to fall in love with your car again every time you drive it.

- Remove any food or drink leftovers or anything else that could promote bacterias in your car’s interior. Make sure to check door pockets, center console, under the seats, glove box, and trunk.

- Thoroughly vacuum carpet, floor mats, and seats. Shampoo your interior’s fabric using fabric soap and a brush. Extract any excess residue fabric cleaner using a wet shop vacuum or an extractor if available.

- Hit all surfaces with steam followed by wiping down all surfaces. If a steamer is not available, use an interior cleaning product to wipe down any dirt or dust.

- Baking soda works great as a deodorizer. Sprinkle a light layer all over your carpet, floor mats, doors, and fabric seats. Let it sit for 15-30 minutes, and in some cases you need to let it sit overnight to remove stubborn odors. Thoroughly vacuum the baking soda if you are satisfied with the smell, if not wait until the next day before you perform this step.

- Don’t forget to address the headliner of your vehicle, especially for removing cigarette smell. Spray your headliner with fabric cleaner, agitate with a soft to medium brush, and wipe off any excess with a microfiber towel.

- Replace your cabin air filter with a new one for a fresher air inside your cabin.

- Finally, spray your favorite deodorizer for a fresh smell.
